Whirling Dervish

A mystical dancer who stands between
the material and cosmic worlds.

His dance is part of a sacred ceremony
in which the dervish rotates in a precise rhythm.

He represents the earth revolving on its axis
while orbiting the sun.

The purpose of the ritual whirling is for the dervish
to empty himself of all distracting
thoughts, placing him in trance; released from his body he conquers dizziness

I visited my secret & favorite vintage shop last week and found a nice hunting jacket. went to check online about the brand, called Duxbak, and discovered that apparently it used to be a very classy name in the apparel field.

this weird dude wrote some stories about Duxbak at its golden times here

What's cooking, round 2

Yakitori (焼き鳥 やきとり)
grilled chicken, is a Japanese type of skewered chicken. It is made from several bite-sized pieces of chicken meat, or chicken offal, skewered on a bamboo skewer and barbecued, usually over charcoal.

Oyaki (おやき) is a Japanese dumpling made from a fermented buckwheat dough wrapped around a stuffing of Japanese vegetables, fruit, or anko bean paste and then roasted on an iron pan. The resulting bun is then either steamed or broiled and eaten hot.

Kabayaki (蒲焼)
is a generic Japanese term for a dish of seafood which is filleted, boned and dipped in a sweet soy sauce-base sauce before broiled on a grill. In general, kabayaki refers to the dish made with unagi(eel). Kabayaki eel is very popular as a nutritious, stamina-generating food.

Takoyaki (たこ焼き) (literally fried or baked octopus) is a popular Japanese dumpling made of batter, diced or whole baby octopus, tempura scraps (tenkasu), pickled ginger, and green onion, topped with okonomiyaki sauce, green laver (aonori), mayonnaise, and katsuobushi (fish shavings)

Hoshi onsen is unique among all onsen in Japanese. Located near to where Gunma, Nagano, and Niigata prefectures come together, Hoshi was once a popular stop on the Mikunikaido, the trail that passes over nearby Mikuni Pass. Originally built in the 1870's, the onsen is managed by the fifth generation of the Okamura family.

What's cooking, round 1

Teppanyaki鉄板焼き
The word "teppanyaki" is derived from teppan (鉄板), which means iron plate, and yaki (焼き), which means fried or broiled.

Okonomiyaki お好み焼き
is a Japanese savoury pancake containing a variety of ingredients. The name is derived from the word okonomi, meaning "what you like" or "what you want", and yaki meaning "grilled" or "cooked"

Yakisoba (焼きそば)
literally "fried noodles", is a dish often sold at festivals in Japan, but originates in China. The dish was derived by the Chinese from the traditional chow mein, but has been more heavily integrated into Japanese cuisine like ramen. Even though soba (Japanese Noodles made from Buckwheat) is part of the word, yakisoba noodles are not made from buckwheat, but are similar to ramen noodles and made from wheat flour.

Teriyaki (てりやき)
is a cooking technique used in Japanese cuisine in which foods are broiled or grilled in a sweet soy sauce marinade (tare in Japanese). Teriyaki is served in most modern Japanese cuisines.

this book by ken isaac is just perfect, everything you need to know to start building living spaces on smaller scales and modern living furniture! it is actually a rare edition, but it's now reprinted by Rollo Press and here is a pdf version of it. good luck in finding an original copy on ebay or in some dusty wellfurnished bookshop.

no allusions at all to my life, of course.
